Designed for safety. When fully-inflated on the surface, LGS BCDs effortlessly keep diver airways out of the water even when divers are being properly pulled by their tether lines by tenders, are using aluminum tanks, when carrying a body, or when incapacitated.
TeamLGS Tip: Softpack BCDs allow the primary tank to pull away from divers when they lean back, and sideways when pony systems are worn. This reduces underwater movement capabilities and makes it more challenging to perform over-the-shoulder regulator retrievals to access your air.
TeamLGS Tip: The side-sweep regulator retrieval technique works most of the time, not all the time. The over-the-shoulder technique (OTST) works when you’re upside down, if the regulator is stuck in a submerged tree, laying across your upper back., etc. Accessing your air should be a reflexive skill so use only one, well-practiced technique – the OTST.

Single metal cam buckles are as effective as double cam designs. Unlike plastic, metal cam buckles will not break in frigid temperatures and make it easier to have tight tank bands that prevent tank splippage.
